City of Bones - Mortal Instruments #1 by Cassandra Clare

***AGE ADVISEMENT***
FOR AGES 16+

Overview:
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. That's when she meets Jace, who is incredibly sexy and knows it. Jace and his friends are shadowhunters and are sworn to protect the human world from evil like demons, and other downworlders like rouge vampires and werewolves. Then Clary's mother disappears and the only one who can help is Jace. Clary and the shadowhunters don't hit it off right away, I mean, shes just a regular mundane, Right? But she has the sight and gets thrown into the shadowhunters crazy world with a vengeance. As the story of Clary's past unveils she realizes her supposedly normal mother has been hiding unbelievable secrets from her. Clary and the shadowhunters partake on a mission to find Clary's mother and defeat the evil (and apparently not dead) shadowhunter, Valentine.

Review:
This book definitely has funny dialog, fast paced action, a love triangle, and all the dark elements that paranormal readers love. I really enjoyed the book and the characters, and I have to say that I did NOT see the twist at the end coming! My only complaint would be that the author addressed to many elements, to soon. The book was great without talk about vampires, certain demons, and other other worldly characters that never came into the plot of the book. Cassandra Clare has done a great job of creating a world that everyone will love, and has left the story open to many more great sequels! I'm excited to read the next few books :)

Thanks for listening to my opinion!
